Description

The Labconco FreeZone 4.5 liter console freeze dryer is a compact laboratory lyophilizer with ice holding capacity for light to moderate sample loads. This freeze dryer system has a permanently installed 10-port drying chamber and stainless steel collector chamber and coil. The Labconco FreeZone 4.5L can remove over two liters of water in 24 hours and includes a retractable collector drain line for increased mobility. The onboard LCD display shows system operating parameters (with temperature in °C or °F and vacuum in mBar, Pa, or Torr) and allows for the user to enable precautionary alarms. This model is not for use with samples containing acetonitrile.

Dehydration is an important process for the preservation and storage of biologicals, pharmaceuticals and foods. Of the various methods of dehydration, freeze drying (lyophilization) is especially suited for substances that are heat sensitive. Other than food processing (e.g., coffee, whole dinners), freeze drying has been extensively used in the development of pharmaceuticals (e.g., antibiotics) and preservation of biologicals (e.g., proteins, plasma, viruses and microorganisms). The nondestructive nature of this process has been demonstrated by the retention of viability in freeze dried viruses and microorganisms.

The refurbished Labconco 117 vacuum pump seen in photos is included.

NOTE: Return policy / warranty for the vacuum pump does not cover misuse and/or exposure to contaminants.
