Elcometer 3580-1 Casting Knife Film Applicator with Films (50mm, 0-6000 µm)

The Elcometer 3580-1 casting knife film applicators are simple but effective instruments for applying a uniform and reproducible film of coating to a substrate. It has extended sides to confine the coating during the application and is an ideal gauge for the laboratory. The film thickness can be adjusted in 10 micron steps from 0 to 6mm by means of two integrated micrometric screws. Manufactured in anodised aluminium, with a bevelled blade applicator body, the Elcometer 3580 is recommended for manually applying thick, high viscosity fluids, on solid and flat substrates.

This film applicator is in great condition and includes an open box of Leneta clear films.

This clear film can be used as a substrate for the application of a coating and viewed for transmitted appearance properties including color, gloss and transparency, or placed over a black and white background for evaluation of hiding power. In addition, it is used as an overlay to protect a drawdown after drying, without obscuring visibility.
