Aldrich Modified Convertible Liquid-Liquid Continuous 1000mL Extractor

This Aldrich convertible liquid-liquid continuous extractor assembly has a capacity of 1000 mL and includes both the large extractor body and the long, thin diffusion tube / plunger adapter. The top 45/50 joint accommodates heavy-duty high-reflux Allihn or Friedrichs condensers (NOT included). The bottom/return ST/NS 24/40 joint locks straight into a recycling round-bottom solvent reservoir flask (NOT included).

The glass diffusion tube/plunger is used only for solvents lighter than water (Ether, Hexanes, Ethyl Acetate), but not for solvents heavier than water (Chloroform, Dichloromethane, and others).

This assembly is built entirely from heavy-duty Type I Class A borosilicate glass with a chemical-resistant PTFE (Teflon) stopcock valve assembly.

For Heavy Solvents: The stopcock must remain open during the run so the heavy solvent pooling at the bottom can constantly drain back into the boiling flask.

For Light Solvents: The stopcock is typically closed because the solvent collects at the top of the chamber and returns via the upper horizontal sidearm overflow.
